Surgery Day

Hi everyone, this is Jeff, Melissa's husband. I will be attempting to keep everyone updated on how Melissa's open-heart surgery goes.

Today started pretty early with a 5:15am arrival time at the hospital. Once checked in and registered, things moved along pretty quickly: Pre-op, blood work, IVs, meeting the surgeons, anesthesiology team, etc. There is a lot to do before surgery can actually begin.

At just about 7:30am, the team took Melissa back to the operating room. The surgery is a complex one, so it will take most of the day. I won't do a play-by-play here on the blog, but I will post again once surgery is done and recovery is starting.

We are grateful for the gifted doctors taking care of Melissa today, and we are grateful to you all - friends and family. Thanks for your prayers, gifts, help, and all you have done to care for us during these last few months.
