It is HARD to ask for HELP

Learning to ask for help is not a sign of weakness.

I have been humbled by my inability to do much at all right now. I am not driving, I get dizzy nearly every time I get up from sitting, I can only go up about 7 stairs, I have to plan how many times I go up/down the stairs a day, and even getting up from my favorite chair is a challenge. My sweet, patient hubby waits on me hand and foot. He is constantly checking on in on me and asking if I need anything. He has made asking for help easier, because he is attentive and compassionate. Asking for help is not easy. I am stubborn and want to be self-sufficient. Who wants to have to ask for someone to carry their glass of water, or to pick up something they dropped on the floor, or to let the dogs out/in, so on and so on and so on.

So many of you have offered to help - run errands, grocery shop, provide a meal, do our laundry, etc. Right now, as we ("patiently" WAIT) there isn't too much we need. Jeff works from home most days and is handling all the grocery shopping, errands, cooking and laundry. I am uber-skilled at online shopping - especially with Amazon Prime! We have a wonderful cleaning lady (local people, let me know if you want her contact info. as she has a few openings) who comes every two weeks.

BUT - Hubby goes into the office one day a week. On that day, Wednesday, it would be really great to have a meal. Whether he drives or takes the train, the commute gets him home much after he would normally be preparing dinner. Having a meal all set to go would be very helpful and ease stress. If you are interested in providing a meal, please click here.

If you are local (and don't cook - like me ;) or are not nearby, we do like take -out as well. Gift cards to local places like: Babcock's, NachoRita, Gnarly Knots, Rosemary & Jeans, Bricks Pizza, or other nearby places, like: Chiptole, Domino's Pizza, Chick FilA, Panera, Lou Malnati's, and Stan's Donuts.

Additionally, there are occasionally errands that need run, misc. tasks, and rides to medical appointments, etc. that are needed. They will be listed here on this SignUp Genius form. If you are local, and have a bit of time to spare, your help would be appreciated. And I always appreciate visits from (healthy) friends - even just to chat.

And, lastly, I have put together an Amazon Wishlist of items that would be helpful now and post-surgery. Please do not feel obligated to purchase anything from this list. I by no means NEED these things. They are just some things that would be a nice (or even a luxury) to have.

I haven't talked about my faith on this blog yet. But my faith is an integral part of my life. Your thoughts and prayers as I prepare for surgery are appreciated and coveted.

And - a quick text or message of encouragement really lifts my spirits. I LOVE people and am feeling isolated. (And, if you know Hubby, he could use some encouragement also as he cares for me).
