Progress

Hi all. It's been a bit since I provided an update on Melissa. Most of the events of the last few days were really small steps forward with getting off sedation. Last night they were finally able to end one of the primary IV sedation medications. This is great progress! As Melissa becomes more alert and aware, she feels the pain and discomfort, though. I read that pain from open heart surgery can last six weeks or more. We are grateful for progress, but I have to keep reminding myself that there is a long road ahead and many different aspects to the recovery process.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated! Please continue to pray for:

  • Effective pain management for Melissa

  • Continued forward movement with no setbacks

  • Wisdom for the doctors and nurses as they take care of Melissa

Thank you for the update. Diane and I pray for continued progress for Melissa and for patience for those of you, family and friends, who are anxious for this long recovery to be completed.
