I'm so dizzy

my head is spinning

It has been awhile since I blogged. I have been plugging along, hoping that I would have some answers and resolution to my lingering symptoms.

Unfortunately, I continue to be experiencing dizziness. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it occurs, how often it occurs, or how long it lasts. Some days are better than others and sometimes there are parts of the day that are better than others. It is scary and unsettling. And it directly impacts my quality of life.

I have seen my cardiologist - had an ECHO, stress test and an angiogram. These tests showed that my bypassed coronary artery (bypassed in 2006, but reimplanted last year) is occluded; however, there is collateral blood flow. This will be managed medically, with no surgical intervention recommended. And is not likely the cause of the dizziness.

I have seen a neurologist - had an audiogram, vestibular testing, and seen also seen an ENT that specializes in neurotology. This round of testing and appointments concluded that the dizziness was not a vestibular issue, but likely orthostatic hypotension.

I have seen my Primary Care Doctor, and was offered some suggestions -stay hydrated, supplement electrolytes, wear compression socks, etc.

Things are stagnant and I am disappointed. I have come a long way since July 2023 when I had surgery but am no closer to a resolution of my dizziness. I have another appointment with my cardiologist in a few weeks and I am hoping she will have some further thoughts.

Additionally, my vocal cord paralysis has not improved, but the injection has given me limited voice. I am grateful that I have a voice but am very limited in my volume - which makes it difficult to talk on the phone, order at a drive-thru or hold a conversation in a group setting.

Here are a few things that I have been able to do:

-celebrated our son's 20th birthday at Texas Roadhouse with both sets of his grandparents

-hosted several Sunday dinners for our son, our parents and our son's college freinds

-cheered hubby on while he ran the Frosty Five Miler

-worked a few events for our church

-stepped back into the role as the administrator for the church's benevolence fund

-started training as a volunteer for Administer Justice

-went to visit my brother and family in SD (invited myself to join my parents)

-celebrated Easter with family in from PA and SD

-planned a family trip for May to Gulf Shores, Alabama and a trip for hubby & I to Disneyland in July

-driven to my own doctor and test appointments

-organized a few cupboards and closets and deep cleaned a few things - including our storm windows

I know that this has been a long journey without a conclusion. I appreciate your continued prayers, support and patience.
