26 days, two endovascular procedures, and multiple challenging decisions later, and I am HOME!
After a ride home in an ambulance,
it felt amazing to walk through our front door, sit in “my chair”, be greeted by our dog, etc. While I was en route, my new friend, the oxygen concentrator, was delivered to the house (with 50 feet of tubing). I still need the oxygen as my lungs recover, but the tubing allows me to get to most areas of the house.
I will have Hoover the wound vac with me for a few weeks. A home health nurse will come three days a week to change the dressing. I will also get Physical and Occupational therapy through home health. Palliative care will be setup and there will be a number of follow up appointments in the coming weeks
My aortic graft still has a MRSA infection. Controlling the infection is critical to keeping it from spreading to other parts of my body. Infectious disease changed the treatment to oral antibiotics so that I don’t have to spend tons of time on infusions anymore.
This was another tough chapter, but we’re grateful for all of the love, care, and support provided by friends and family.
