(and my family, dogs, and my own bed)

Well, I have been home just over a week now, and it has been GREAT! I am able to make my own schedule (to some extent), sleep in my own bed and spend time with my hubby and son. I have also enjoyed visits from friends and even a dinner out with friends. I spend my time knitting, building legos, writing notes and watching Disney movies.
I am also in Day Rehab three afternoons a week for three hours each day. I have PT, OT and Speech therapy at rehab. My goals for PT & OT are to walk without the walker, go up/down stairs without difficulty, and get back to driving. These are long term goals, but I am practicing and getting stronger all the time. We work on high level cognition and vocalization during speech therapy. I have a paralyzed vocal cord caused during surgery, so I have a low breathy voice. I have an appointment with the Ear, Nose, Throat Doctor next week to see if they have any interventions for my vocal chord.
I also have an appointment with Interventional Radiology to hopefully get my G/J-tube removed. I haven't used the G/J tube for nutrition in several weeks, and it is just annoying at this point. I have had several other follow up appointments over the last week. So.many.doctors.and.appointments. All that to say, I feel really good. No pain or dizziness (like before surgery). And, I am grateful for how far I have come since July 25th. I am looking forward to visiting with more friends and getting out and about.
There’s no place like home…There’s no place like home…There’s no place like home…
Thankful for your progress and praying for strength and endurance.
So happy you are progressing, Being home is a huge help. Love you and miss you.
