...a whole lot of nothing
So, I haven't written a blog post in a while. I asked my hubby to write a blog post -and he has been working on it - making notes, researching, and overthinking the whole thing. There will be a guest blog post from my hubby soon. But, for now you will have to hear from me again.
My blog post "That didn't go as planned" on February 5th shared that my inflammation bloodwork was extremely elevated, leading to having to increase (instead of taper) my steroid dose.
A few things have happened over the last two weeks:
1 - insurance approved switching to a weekly dose of Humira.
2 - I was diagnosed with steroid-induced Type 2 diabetes. This may sound bad, but I have been down this road before, and the diabetes should resolve once I am able to taper to a maintenance dose of steroids.
3 - I started a medication for Type 2 diabetes called semaglutide.
4 - I tapered to 20mg of steroids this week. I continue to be pain-free and am not experiencing any outward/recognizable negative side effects from tapering.
I will have blood work this week to check my inflammation markers. If it is trending downward, I will continue to taper my steroids.
I continue to lay-low and wait ("patiently"). I am still mostly home-bound, not driving and not working. I spend most of my time stationary, because getting up and down causes extreme dizziness. I still tire easily from physical exertion and am limited in my ability to get around. BUT - I have had lots of visitors, phone calls, notes of encouragement, meals, and surprise gifts. We went out to eat to celebrate my son's birthday. My brother and his wife flew in for a few days from South Dakota. It was great to spend time with them catching up and just hanging out. I also got out of the house to celebrate my nephew's 3rd birthday (although my nephew told me he was turning eight, which is apparently his favorite number) with family.

Progress, my friend. Thank goodness your pain free! Praying for that to continue!
Yes, praise the lord your insurance approved the meds you need!
Oh what a surprise. Hadn't heard Sarah and Taylor came for a short visit. Sure seeing them lifted your spirits. Miss you. Keeping you in my prayers.
