Vascular Surgery Unlocked

Scheduling surgical procedures can be challenging, but we now have more details about the vascular procedure I will be undergoing to help stabilize my aortic graft. The vascular surgeon stopped by today to talk about it. Due to his schedule, he wants to do the procedure this coming weekend. It will actually be done in two parts. Sunday will be a carotid artery bypass surgery. Then on Monday they will place a stent in my aortic arch graft. The ultimate goal is to stem the blood flow to the pseudoaneurysm. This hopefully reduces the pain I experience and extends the time before anything catastrophic happens to the aorta and aortic graft.

We are incredibly grateful for the surgeon - his creativity, dedication, sensitivity, and skill. Not to mention he will be giving up a holiday weekend to help me. He was very kind and humble when I mentioned him giving up his holiday weekend to do the surgery.

We appreciate everyone's thoughts, prayers, support, gifts, texts, cards, etc. And I am thankful for everyone that has been able to visit. My days are long, and a little boring, and visitors are a welcome distraction that helps pass the time. My arterial line that monitors my blood pressure had to be placed in my dominant hand which has made writing, playing games on my phone, crocheting and painting off limits for now.

Thoughts and prayers continue to be appreciated - we've truly seen God moving in this situation as this additional option came to light.

Speaking of prayer, on Tuesday next week at 7:30pm our church will be having a time of prayer for our family. We hope to have it streamed live here on the blog. Stay tuned for more details on that.
