moving forward a little bit at a time

I have been trying to write this blog post for several days now. I was mad and disappointed with the lack of progress over the last few weeks. The inflammation in my aorta from my Takayasu Arteritis isn't under control, I haven't been able to taper my steroids, and my aortic valve replacement surgery isn't going to happen anytime soon. Also - my attitude was stinky.

BUT there have been a few things moving forward. I had an appointment with my Cardiologist and the Eye Center. Both appointments went well, with no changes made to my current regimen.

I also had an appointment with my rheumatologist (who is my hero - smart, patient, dedicated and compassionate). I have stopped taking Humira and have started taking Xeljanz. We are also very slowly tapering my steroids. I am alternating 16mg one day and 14mg the next day. We will monitor my pain and run blood tests every couple weeks. I have had a few bad days, but there are also good days.

My son is home from college for the summer. He is working full-time and helping at home. It is great to have him here.

Hubby is now working in the city two days a week, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am not really able to be home alone all day. My dear friend works from "home" (my home) on Wednesdays. But now I need someone to keep me, and my dogs, company on Thursdays. I have added Thursdays to the SignUpGenius form. Unfortunately, Thursdays sometime are a hard day for me with the side effects of my Methotrexate injection on Wednesday night. I may not be the best company, but having someone here would be a big help. I have also added Thursdays to the MealTrain.

As this ordeal drags on, I want everyone who has provided meals, rides, gifts, notes, encouraging texts, prayers, check-ins, etc. that YOU are appreciated. We wouldn't be able to do it without you.

SignUp Genius - help with rides to/from medical appointments OR come keep me company while Jeff works in the city.

Meal Train - provide a meal on Wednesday or Thursday
