Part II Complete

The procedure to place a stent in Melissa's aortic arch was finished early this afternoon. It went well and the surgeon is cautiously optimistic that it will contain the leak in the aorta causing the pseudoaneurysm. The procedure was complex, especially because the coils he placed in the pseudoaneurysm last September made it difficult to see exactly where the hole in the aorta is.


The next 24 hours are critical. Melissa remains intubated and on the ventilator while she recovers. They are closely monitoring her blood pressure as well as her pain levels.

Schedule
