choo, choo!

Since being discharged from the hospital I have fallen into my new routine of day rehab (PT, OT and Speech) three days a week from 12:30-3:30. But of course, I cannot be "normal", so I have had a few bumps in the road:

1 - week one, day two of rehab and our car broke down around the corner from home. A quick call to a good friend to come fetch me and I wasn't too late arriving at rehab.

2- week two of rehab and I had a dizzy spell which was caused by low blood pressure. I struggled with the low BP all week. I even got sent home early one day in a wheelchair. My OT called my cardiologist and got me an appointment the next day. My cardiologist adjusted some meds and things have stabilized.

3- week three of rehab didn't happen :( I had a 24-hour stomach bug that last three days for me (I always have to be special). I missed all three days of rehab last week.

Let's see what week 4 of rehab has in store for me!

In other news, I had some medical appointments. The appointment with IR (Interventional Radiology) to get my G'J-tube removed was quick and painless. I now have one less medical device!

We also saw ENT to assess my paralyzed vocal cord. She stuck a camera down my nose (blech) to assess the vocal cord's condition. The picture below shows the cord on the right of the picture has started to atrophy while paralyzed.

The ENT can inject that vocal cord with Restalyne (hyaluronic acid) to "plump" it up and hopefully improve my voice. Currently my voice is a breathy whisper because the vocal folds do not meet when I try to talk. The vocal fold injection will take place in an operating room (the procedure takes approximately three minutes) next week. *Fingers crossed* for an improved voice.

I am enjoying being home: I have had a few visitors, gone on a few outings, built Legos, knitted, done sudoku puzzles, caught up on several TV series, played games on my phone, etc.

I am very appreciative of the cards, texts, meals, gift cards, facetime calls, etc. Everyone's love and support are what keep me going - and working hard in therapy to regain my strength and stamina.
